Fraternity and Sorority Mission

The Fraternity and Sorority community is dedicated to the personal and professional development of members through a wide range of activities and experiences. We are committed to promoting life-long involvement in individual organizations, as well as our collective community to positively impact the lives of both undergraduate and alumni members while building and maintaining a fraternity and sorority community worthy enough to serve the University and the people of Manhattan.

Informal Sorority Recruitment/ Continuous Open Bidding

This option is sometimes available -- depending on limiting factors -- shortly after the close of the annual fall Panhellenic Primary Membership Recruitment process through the last day of classes each spring and to currently enrolled K-State women only. Throughout the year Panhellenic collects information from CURRENT students interested in learning more about a sorority experience. This information is passed along to chapters that currently have vacancies.

How COB works

Any sorority chapter whose membership roster falls below 166 members is eligible for continuous open bidding (COB). Some years there are many options, and others there might not be any openings until the spring semester. Typically the most openings exist at the start of the spring semester. Recruitment events take place outside of Primary Panhellenic Recruitment Week are by invitation from participating sororities at the time and location of the sorority's choice. There is not a pre-assigned schedule nor will the Panhellenic Council facilitate the invitation process. Each chapter is responsible for contacting any interested student and offering invitations to membership events.

For more information regarding COB, please check out the Frequently Asked Questions.

Interested in COB?

If you are interested in COB please register here.  Each chapter participating in COB is responsible for contacting any interested student and offering invitations to membership recruitment events.

If you have questions regarding COB, email Allison Sears, Panhellenic Council Director of Continuous Open Bidding and Retention, at alligirl2014@k-state.edu. She will offer direction to you through the process. You may contact chapters directly to see if they are actively recruiting potential members. Information about each chapter and contact information for the recruitment chairs can be found here.
